About Us

At Master Mechanics, we aren't your average high-volume "parts-changing" factory. We are a unique, specialised automotive operation running two distinct workshops:

  • Our Main Workshop: Handling advanced diagnostics, standard servicing, complex mechanical repairs, and WoF inspections for clients who expect the highest standards.
  • Our Motorsport Workshop: A dedicated space focused entirely on custom race car builds, performance tuning, and high-end custom fabrication.

We pride ourselves on technical tenacity. We find and fix the problems that other shops across Auckland turn away. When a vehicle leaves our floor, it’s because we dug deeper, thought harder, and engineered the right solution.

If you want a role where you can apply elite diagnostic logic to daily drivers and get hands-on with high-performance motorsport and street car builds, you’ll fit right in.

The Role

We are looking for a dual-threat Qualified Automotive Technician & WoF Inspector who has the versatility to span across our operations.

Your core focus will be keeping our main workshop firing on all cylinders - delivering sharp diagnostics, executing flawless repairs, and running thorough WoF inspections. However, for the right tech with the passion and capability, there is a clear pathway to get involved in our motorsport shop, assisting with race builds, performance upgrades, and custom work.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Credentials: Trade Qualified (National Certificate in Automotive Engineering or equivalent) with a current, clean NZ Driver’s License. Current Vehicle Inspector (WoF) authority with up-to-date knowledge of NZTA vehicle standards.
  • Mindset: Absolute tenacity. You don’t get defeated by a tricky electrical fault or a ghost in the sensor data. You are resourceful, critical, and you don't stop until it's right.
  • Passion: You are passionate as hell about cars. Whether you’re working on a modern Euro, a Japanese performance build, or modifying your own project car at home - automotive is your lifestyle, not just a paycheck.
  • Standards: High attention to detail. You take pride in clean work, accurate diagnostic logic, and doing the job right the first time.
  • Bonus Skills: Any experience or interest in performance tuning, aftermarket ECUs, or basic fabrication/welding is a massive plus (but we are happy to coach the right technical mind).

We need someone who can add value from day one. In your application, skip the generic cover letter fluff - tell us exactly what unique skills or experience you bring to the table, and why you’re the sharpest tool for our team.

Why Join Master Mechanics?

  • The Best of Both Worlds: Keep your diagnostic skills sharp on advanced road cars, while getting exposure to the world of custom motorsport fabrication and high-end street car builds.
  • A Culture of Excellence: Work alongside an elite team that respects your expertise and supports your growth.
  • Top Tools & Tech: Access to high-end diagnostic gear, fabrication equipment, and a clean, well-managed workshop environment.
  • Competitive Compensation: We value elite, passionate talent and pay top rates to reflect that.

How to Apply

If you’re a qualified tech who is tired of the dealership grind and wants to work on everything from high-tech diagnostics to race cars, we want to hear from you.
